Boondocks Irish Wolfhounds - Reg

Boondocks Irish Wolfhounds, run by Jeanie Pitzenberger outside of Nichols in southeast Iowa, breeds AKC-registered Irish wolfhounds with a strong focus on show-quality conformation and sound structure. The kennel sits roughly an hour west of the Quad Cities, in the quieter agricultural stretch of eastern Iowa.

Pitzenberger came to the breed in 2006, was mentored by established preservation breeders, and produced her first litter in 2015. Since then, Boondocks has built a notable show record, with dogs earning a Best in Show, multiple Reserve Bests in Show, and more than a dozen Hound Group Ones at all-breed events. The program has also claimed wins at Irish wolfhound specialty shows, where Pitzenberger places particular importance on competing.

Health testing is a clear priority for the kennel. All puppies are liver shunt tested before going to new homes, with samples sent out at approximately eleven weeks of age. Pitzenberger is also an active member of the Irish Wolfhound Club of America and serves as president of the Iowa Hound Association, an AKC-affiliated club she helped establish.
