Back by popular demand is an updated version of yesterday's English Mastiff Evolution graphic.

Apparently I got most of it right, but a couple of English Mastiff owners pointed out one important mistake...

The 48+ month stage should be mostly laying down. 😆

I also remembered to add in a bunch of drool, because if we're being honest, that's a pretty important part of owning an English Mastiff.

So now we've got:

🐶 0–3 months: adorable potato

🦖 3–12 months: velociraptor

🐴 12–48 months: giant teenage horse

💤 48+ months: professional napper with a puddle of drool

English Mastiff Growth Stages: From Velociraptor to Gentle Giant 😂

Every English Mastiff owner knows the transformation is real.

At 0–3 months, you bring home the cutest little English Mastiff puppy imaginable. Tiny paws. Wrinkles. Sweet eyes. Sleeps in your lap like an angel sent from heaven.

Then somewhere around 12 weeks old… the velociraptor phase begins.

From 3–12 months, your gentle giant puppy suddenly discovers zoomies, selective hearing, counter surfing, and the overwhelming need to test every boundary you’ve ever established. This is the “teenager with dinosaur energy” stage of raising a Mastiff.

From 12–48 months, they start settling mentally, but they’re still growing into their massive frame. This is the awkward giant stage where they look half horse, half couch ornament.

Then finally, around 48+ months, the magic happens.

The chest drops. The head fills out. The personality settles. And your wild puppy becomes the calm, loyal, majestic gentle giant the English Mastiff breed is famous for.

Honestly, if you survive the velociraptor era, you earn the world’s largest cuddle buddy.
