Unknown Breed
An unknown-breed Nyasa lovebird is a Lilian's lovebird-type bird whose variety, line, or exact breeding background was not recorded. It may be a normal Agapornis lilianae, a color mutation, or a bird with some hybrid ancestry from another eye-ring lovebird. Because Nyasa, Fischer's, masked, and black-cheeked lovebirds share a similar small parrot shape and bold eye ring, photos alone do not always settle identity, especially in blue or pied birds.
For rescues, pet owners, and breeders, the unknown label is safer than guessing. Basic care should follow Nyasa lovebird needs: warm indoor housing or protected aviary space, daily social contact, flight exercise, and a diet that is not seed-only. DNA sexing may be useful because the sexes look alike. If the bird is bred, offspring should be described with the same uncertainty unless parentage has been verified.
