Mixed Breed

A mixed-breed Nyasa lovebird is an informal label for a lovebird that resembles Agapornis lilianae but has uncertain or mixed family background. Nyasa lovebirds, also called Lilian's lovebirds, belong to the white-eye-ring group and can be confused or crossed with Fischer's, masked, and black-cheeked lovebirds. A mixed bird may look close to the green wild type or carry mutation colors such as blue, pied, lutino, violet, or dark factor.

Care is the same as for other small Agapornis parrots. They need a secure cage or aviary, steady companionship, and safe wood or toys to chew; diet is usually based on pellets, seed in moderation, greens, and vegetables. The main practical issue is honesty in records. Mixed-breed birds are best kept out of pure Nyasa breeding programs, especially where aviculturists are maintaining identifiable species lines for education or conservation.

Colors: Blue, Dark Factor, Green, Lutino, Pied, Violet
