Crossbred

A crossbred Nyasa lovebird is a bird sold or recorded as Agapornis lilianae with mixed ancestry, often involving another eye-ring lovebird such as Fischer's, masked, or black-cheeked lovebird, or color lines whose origin is uncertain. Pure Nyasa, or Lilian's, lovebirds are small green parrots from south-central Africa with an orange-red face and white eye ring. Crossbred birds may show blue, lutino, pied, violet, or dark-factor colors that are difficult to interpret without breeding records.

In aviculture, crossbred Nyasa lovebirds should be labeled plainly so buyers do not mistake them for conservation-quality pure stock. They can still make active aviary birds or pets when housed with space to fly, daily social interaction, chewable enrichment, and a balanced lovebird diet. Pairing should be planned carefully: mixed ancestry can produce attractive birds, but it also makes species identification and future breeding decisions harder.

Colors: Blue, Dark Factor, Green, Lutino, Pied, Violet
