Hikarimuji
Hikarimuji are single-colored metallic koi, most often discussed through Ogon varieties such as Yamabuki Ogon, Platinum Ogon, Orenji Ogon, and related solid-color forms. The name points to an unpatterned fish where the main attraction is clean color, strong hikari, and a smooth, balanced body. Without complex markings to distract the eye, flaws in skin, head shape, scale alignment, or fin condition are easier to notice.
Pond keepers often like Hikarimuji because a bright metallic fish is visible even in deep or shaded water. Selection should be practical: choose a koi with even color from head to tail, good luster on the head, sound fins, and a body that can grow without becoming coarse. These fish need the same filtration, oxygen, quarantine, and seasonal feeding as other koi. Color can be affected by age, diet, and water, so steady care is better than trying to force intensity quickly.
