Round Tail

Round Tail

A round tail guppy is defined by a shorter, rounded caudal fin rather than the broad triangle of a delta or the long extensions of swordtail types. The shape gives the fish a compact, active look and can appear with many colors, including red, yellow, blue, snakeskin, tuxedo, and Moscow-influenced lines. Because the tail is less exaggerated, the body and movement are often easier to judge.

Round tail guppies can be practical choices for planted community tanks because the smaller tail is less likely to tear and creates less drag. Breeders still select for symmetry, color, and a clean tail edge, not just reduced fin size. These fish should have gentle but adequate filtration, warm stable water, and enough cover for fry. In mixed tanks, they may compete better than heavily finned show males.

Colors: Black, Blue, Cobra, Glass, Green, Half Black, Metal Head, Moscow, Multi-Color, Purple, Red, Snakeskin, Tuxedo, Yellow
