Albino

An albino guppy is a color form of Poecilia reticulata with greatly reduced dark pigment and the red or pink eyes typical of albino fish. The trait can sit under many other guppy colors, producing albino reds, yellows, platinum lines, and pale-bodied patterned strains. Because melanin is missing or reduced, fine markings that would be dark in a normal guppy may appear softer, warmer, or more translucent.

Albino guppies are kept much like other fancy guppies, but bright lighting and stressful tankmates can be harder on them than on darker fish. Breeders usually treat albino as a recessive trait and must plan pairings if they want consistent albino fry. Clear water, stable temperature, gentle filtration, and a diet that supports color development are more important than chasing the palest look, since weak fish lose value in both pet and show settings.
