Norwegian White Goose
The Norwegian white goose is a Norwegian domestic goose type selected as a white utility bird for farm production in a northern climate. It is generally described as a sturdy, medium to large goose with white plumage, orange bill and legs, and the practical build expected of a meat and farmyard breed. Compared with highly commercial hybrid geese, it is usually discussed as a regional or national breed, with value tied to adaptation, local history, and maintainable breeding lines.
Cold tolerance does not remove the need for good housing. These geese need dry bedding, protection from wind, and open drinking water even when the ground is frozen; pasture and green feed are important during the short growing season. White plumage is convenient for dressed birds and feather use, but keepers should still select primarily for health, fertility, and calm handling. Anyone sourcing stock should confirm the breeder's records, since rare regional goose names can be applied loosely outside their home country.
