American Buff
The American Buff is a domestic goose breed developed in North America and recognized for warm buff plumage, orange bill and feet, and a medium-heavy utility body. It is a farm goose with a calm appearance and practical proportions, used for meat, eggs, exhibition, and smallholder flocks. The buff color is central to the breed identity, but good type also depends on depth, width, and sound movement.
American Buff geese need the usual foundations of goose care: grazing space, clean drinking and bathing water, secure housing at night, and protection from mud that can damage feet and feathers. They can be useful for farms that want a manageable heritage goose rather than a very large commercial strain. Breeders should select for even buff color, fertility, hatchability, strong legs, and steady temperament, especially because small breed populations can lose quality if color is the only focus.
