Dashed Pinstripe
A dashed pinstripe crested gecko has light scales along the raised dorsal crests, but the line is broken into segments rather than forming a continuous full pinstripe. The dashes usually run from behind the head toward the tail base on one or both sides of the back. This pattern can be subtle on a low-contrast animal or very sharp when cream or white scales sit against a red, brown, or dark base. Some dashed pinstripes also show flame, harlequin, empty-back, or dalmatian traits.
Since dashed pinstripe is a pattern description, offspring may range from almost no pinning to fuller pinstripe expression depending on the parents. Breeders often evaluate hatchlings over time because dorsal scales can brighten as the gecko grows. For keepers, the trait has no special care requirements. A vertical enclosure with bark, vines, and foliage suits the species' climbing habits, and gentle, brief handling is safer than grabbing from above. Pattern quality should never outweigh good body condition, clear eyes, and normal movement when choosing an animal.
