Dalmatian
A dalmatian crested gecko is marked with spots scattered over the body, limbs, head, or tail, much like speckling on a painted surface. The spots may be black, brown, red, olive, or occasionally lighter in appearance, and they can occur on almost any base color or pattern. Animals with very dense spotting are often called super dalmatians, although spot counts and thresholds vary among keepers. In many crested geckos, spots become more noticeable with age.
Dalmatian is one of the most recognizable crested gecko traits, but it is not a care category. Spotted geckos need the same cool, humid, arboreal setup as other Correlophus ciliatus, with secure ledges and foliage to reduce stress. Breeders selecting for heavy spotting usually keep photo records as animals mature, since juveniles may not show their adult density. Buyers should check whether spots are clean and natural-looking rather than assuming every freckled gecko will develop into a high-spot super dalmatian.
