Stargazer is not a color morph but a recessive corn snake gene linked to a neurological balance problem in snakes with two copies. Carriers with one copy look and act normal, which is why breeders record it. It was first found in a Sunkissed line but is a separate gene.
Corn snakes show Stargazer only with two copies. One copy makes a het, which looks normal but can pass Stargazer on.
Snakes with two copies are reported to have a neurological balance problem: twisting of the head and neck, corkscrewing and trouble righting themselves, worse when handled or feeding. Carriers with one copy look and act normal.
