West Gate

West Gate, Percheron horses, Saint Croix Falls, WI in Polk County and northwestern Wisconsin near Minneapolis. West Gate is owned by Joel V. Clark and has been breeding Percheron horses for more than fifteen years with registrations through national equine associations. Its program follows thorough health screening for joints, eyes and overall soundness and maintains horses in pasture-based paddocks that encourage natural movement and social interaction.

Young stock join daily handling routines from an early age and gain experience with light harness work on quiet farm roads. Seasonal farrier care and a diet of local hay blended with oats support steady growth and resilience in changing weather. Several West Gate foals have placed at regional agricultural fairs and joined local plowing demonstrations, reflecting the farm’s roots in traditional draft horse work. A lineage drawn from established driving lines lends these draft horses calm temperaments and reliable strength for farm and carriage duties. Each horse is raised with attention to individual temperament and daily turnout on deep-soil paddocks.
