Windermere Farms Percherons

Windermere Farms Percherons has been raising Percherons in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania since 1962, when Abraham and Mary Allebach founded the operation in Brush Valley. Gerald and Melissa Allebach now carry that multi-generational legacy forward, and the farm sits in Centre County roughly 15 miles from State College.

What began as a dairy operation grew into one of the most decorated Percheron breeding programs in North America. The farm has produced four consecutive World Grand Champions and two Supreme World Champion titles, and its six-horse hitch appeared in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Abraham Allebach was later inducted into the Pennsylvania Draft Horse Hall of Fame in recognition of the family's contributions to the breed.

Windermere Farms also holds a notable place in the history of draft horse breeding: Gerald's family pioneered the process of collecting and commercially shipping Percheron semen to other farms, a technique that has since been adopted widely across the industry. Stallions, mares, and foals graze across the valley pastures, and the farm's approach has remained rooted in close, hands-on work between the Allebach family and their horses.
