Velva Russian Blues

Velva Russian Blues has been a fixture in the Russian blue world since Diana Doernberg founded the cattery in 1966, making it one of the longest-running programs of its kind in Ohio. Based in the state and drawing the attention of cat fanciers across the Midwest, including those near Columbus, the cattery has built a record that includes numerous CFA National and Regional awards over the decades.

Diana brings a depth of expertise that goes well beyond breeding. She has served as a CFA-licensed International Allbreed Cat Judge for more than 40 years, held a seat on the CFA Board of Directors, served as Vice President of the organization, and chaired its Breeds and Standards Committee. All Velva Russian Blues are registered exclusively with the Cat Fanciers Association.

Kittens are home-raised in a family environment, a deliberate choice that reflects the cattery's view that close human contact benefits each cat. Nearly all kittens are placed as pets, and those families receive a health certificate, vaccination records, a pedigree, and a CFA registration slip. For anyone searching for Russian blue kittens in Ohio from a program with deep show and organizational roots, Velva Cattery represents decades of hands-on commitment to the breed.
