NovaBlue Russian Blues

NovaBlue Russian Blues is a CFA-registered cattery run by Krista Schmitt in the Washington, DC metro area, focused on Russian blues. Founded in 2017, the program grew out of Schmitt's earlier experience showing CFA-registered Russian blues for other breeders beginning in 2016.

The cattery is intentionally small, producing a limited number of litters each year with the goal of placing fewer than ten kittens annually. Breeding is oriented toward show quality, and cats from the program have competed on the CFA show circuit — one queen earned recognition as the 19th Best Kitten in CFA's Southern Region during the 2017-2018 show season. Since 2020, NovaBlue has held full membership in the Russian Blue Fanciers, the only CFA breed-specific club dedicated exclusively to Russian blues.

For anyone seeking Russian blue kittens in the DC area, NovaBlue's approach centers on carefully matching each kitten to the right home rather than operating on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Schmitt and her cats can also be found at CFA shows up and down the East Coast throughout the show season.
