Underwood Ranch
Underwood Ranch has raised cattle in the Sealy, Texas area, roughly an hour west of Houston, for over 75 years. Founded in 1941 by Milton R. Underwood, the operation has passed through three generations of the Underwood family, with Duncan K. Underwood now overseeing all ranch activities.
The ranch's cattle history spans several breeds across the decades, beginning with registered Herefords in the 1940s, progressing through Brangus, and eventually arriving at registered Brahman cattle as its core focus. Duncan's father, David M. Underwood, also ran a quarter horse program during his tenure, competing in cutting horse events through the mid-1990s.
Today, Underwood Ranch specializes in registered Brahman production in southeast Texas, working with in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer to advance its genetics program. The ranch also produces Golden Certified F1 cattle and maintains more than 150 acres of irrigated coastal Bermuda hay ground in Austin County, supplying forage for its own herd alongside outside customers.
