Shady Creek

Shady Creek, Percheron, New Haven, IN, is a family operation in northeastern Indiana near Fort Wayne. Christy Lou Schwartz has been raising Percherons for several years and follows health testing guidelines common among draft horse breeders.

Their herd lives on open pasture with regular turnout and daily handling to promote gentle temperament and strong social bonds. Foals are introduced to ground work soon after birth and often accompany the family at community events and shows.

The farm’s rolling fields and century-old barn contribute to a relaxed setting where each horse receives individual attention. Many clients note the horses’ steady gait and calm demeanor, reflecting the farm’s emphasis on health and temperament over rapid growth. Several Percherons from the farm have earned ribbons at local draft horse shows, demonstrating the stable training regimen. The operation blends traditional breeding methods with attentive foal rearing practices.
