Redland Gelbvieh

Redland Gelbvieh raises registered and commercial gelbvieh cattle along the south bank of the Yellowstone River, just outside Hysham, Montana. Bob Redland is part of a multi-generational family operation that has worked this land for well over a century, with roots stretching back to homestead-era ranching in eastern Montana, roughly midway between Billings and Miles City on Interstate 94.

The program got its start in registered gelbvieh in 1985, when the family purchased its first registered females at the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City, South Dakota. Red Angus is also a core part of the herd, and the ranch produces both purebred and crossbred cattle under the "Better Bred Red" banner.

Flood-irrigated farmland along the Yellowstone supplies homegrown corn, alfalfa, wheat, soybeans, and oats, allowing the family to feed their livestock from land they work themselves.
