Randy Koenig

Randy Koenig and Rhonda Koenig, Percheron horses, Sioux Rapids, IA, serve Buena Vista County and northwest Iowa near Sioux City. They have been breeding Percherons for more than a decade and hold membership in the Percheron Horse Association. All their stallions and mares undergo regular health checks and genetic screening to ensure sound conformation and temperament. The horses live in spacious pastures with daily turnout and are introduced early to farm chores and light harness work.

The Koenigs maintain a traditional barn and offer hands-on experience for young equestrians. Several of their mares descend from renowned foundation bloodlines that influence the farm’s calm working disposition. Their feeding program uses locally sourced hay and grains balanced for the needs of draft work. Visitors often note the horses’ gentle manner, steady temperament, and willingness to learn during routine training sessions and farm tours.
