Mrd

Mrd breeds Percheron horses in Saranac, MI, serving northern Michigan near Traverse City. They have been raising draft horses for more than two decades and maintain membership with the American Percheron Society. Each mare and stallion undergoes annual veterinary health checks and genetic screening to support sound conformation and temperament.

Their horses live on 60 acres of rolling pasture with access to a heated stall barn during winter months, and certified farriers visit every six weeks to maintain hoof health. Foals begin gentle handling within days of birth and join regular turnout groups to encourage natural social behavior. A balanced feeding program is tailored to each horse and emphasizes forage-based nutrition. Several of Mrd’s draft horses have earned titles in regional pulling competitions, reflecting their commitment to quality breeding and training. Visits are by arrangement, and they welcome prospective owners to observe daily routines at the farm while sharing guidance to ensure a smooth transition into each new home.
