Merlau Farms

Merlau Farms, Katahdin sheep, New Palestine, IN, is based in Hancock County in southeastern Indiana near Indianapolis. Ben Augustyn is an experienced breeder with more than a decade dedicated to raising Katahdin sheep under American Katahdin Breeders Association standards.

Each flock is sheltered in spacious barns and grazed on rotational pastures to support natural hoof and coat health. Merlau Farms follows a low-stress handling approach and provides lambs with daily socialization to encourage calm temperaments. All breeding stock undergoes routine health screenings for parasites and foot rot to maintain a robust and adaptable herd. Several lambs from recent litters have been recognized for their fleece quality at county fairs. Herds are registered with the American Katahdin Breeders Association and all pedigrees are traceable.
