Maumee Valley

Maumee Valley is a Percheron breeder in New Haven, IN, serving clients throughout Northeast Indiana near Fort Wayne. It has over two decades of experience, holds active registration with the Percheron Horse Association, and performs annual health evaluations including soundness assessments and veterinary screening. All foals are examined by a licensed veterinarian, microchipped and introduced to clipping, grooming and farrier routines before leaving the farm.

Horses live in spacious paddocks and receive daily turnout for mental and physical health. Foals and adults share pasture turnout, early handling and routine farrier visits, helping each horse develop a calm disposition and strong work ethic. Training focuses on draft skills as well as groundwork to build trust, with mares and geldings raised in mixed-age paddocks to encourage natural social behavior. Several young Percherons have shown promise in draft competitions and county fairs, reflecting the farm’s steady approach and James Schwartz’s lifelong dedication to the breed.
