Loch Lomond Livestock Ltd. raises Clun forest sheep on a multi-generational family farm near Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, about an hour southwest of Regina. Brooke Aitken, who holds a BSc in Agriculture and an MSc in Animal Behaviour from the University of Saskatchewan, returned to the farm in 2011 and has steadily shaped the sheep program since.

The Aitken family has farmed this land since 1942, and sheep have been part of the operation for decades. The current flock of roughly 280 ewes and 70 ewe lambs is predominantly Clun forest and Clun forest cross, with the breed chosen for its ease of lambing, strong maternal instincts, and suitability for grass-based production. Purebred Clun forest rams offered for Clun forest sheep in Saskatchewan are raised on forage and selected as yearlings rather than as lambs, giving Brooke time to evaluate how each animal develops on pasture.

The farm spans approximately 1,900 acres of tame forages and 500 acres of native prairie, plus additional leased grassland. Lambing takes place outdoors in May, with a barn available for animals needing assistance, and rotational grazing moves the flock to fresh pasture throughout the season. To broaden genetics, Brooke and her partner Chris have worked with a veterinary reproduction specialist to import semen from the UK and carry out laparoscopic insemination on-farm. The operation also holds a recognition from Nature Saskatchewan for its environmental stewardship.
