Lindley Organic Farm

Lindley Organic Farm has been raising registered South Devon cattle near Mineola, Texas since 2005, rooted in a sixth-generation family farm with more than 150 years of history on the same land. Pamela Trent and her family operate the farm in the East Texas community of Hainesville, roughly halfway between Dallas and Tyler.

The herd is managed as a closed operation — every animal is born on the farm — and the cattle graze on certified organic pastures under a management-intensive rotation. No grains, vaccines, hormones, antibiotics, commercial wormers, soy, GMOs, or animal byproducts are used. Calves stay with their mothers for at least ten months, a practice the farm credits for consistently healthy young stock. Genetics on the farm include Rotokawa and Lakota lines, along with A2A2 animals, and some cattle carry dual registration with both Red Devon USA and the American Milking Devon Association.

The program's commitment to grassfed South Devon cattle in Texas drew recognition at the 2009 North American Devon Conference, where Lindley Organic Farm took first place in the Tender Beef Contest. Bulls, open heifers, bred heifers, and cows are available from the herd, as is semen from the farm's polled herd bull.
