Leon J. Herschberger

Leon J. Herschberger, Percheron horses, Lagrange, IN, works out of a family-run farm in Lagrange County and the Northeast Indiana region near Fort Wayne. With over two decades of breeding experience and membership in the American Percheron Society, he follows a strict regimen of annual health screenings, a complete vaccination schedule, and regular hoof care under local veterinarians.

His horses enjoy daily turnout on rotational pastures and live in tidy stalls bedded with straw, a setup that supports strong bones and calm temperaments. Socialization starts in foalhood and each animal spends time alongside neighbors before entering any training program. The farm’s roots trace back three generations, preserving traditions of gentle handling and practical draft work.

One recent visitor noted the animals’ even stride and friendly curiosity, a reflection of consistent care and attention. A heated foaling stall and round pen support safe delivery and early groundwork for colts.
