Legacy Farm

Legacy Farm breeds Percheron horses in Van Wert, OH, and serves northwest Ohio near Lima. The farm has a long tradition of raising draft horses and adheres to standards set by national Percheron associations, including regular health screenings. Owned and operated by Larry Lloyd and Shirley Lloyd, the farm reflects a focus on traditional husbandry paired with modern care practices.

Each horse is raised on open pastures with rotational grazing and receives daily handling to encourage a calm, trainable temperament. Foals spend their first weeks under attentive supervision and enjoy well-ventilated stalls or open shelters year-round. Legacy Farm emphasizes sound conformation, working directly with veterinarians and farriers to maintain optimal hoof and joint health. The farm sometimes provides horses for local exhibitions and community demonstrations, highlighting the breed’s gentle strength. Facilities include spacious barns, turnout paddocks, and a round pen designed for safe, progressive training sessions.
