Katzmeowbengals raises both standard and cashmere (long-hair) bengal cats in Hixson, Tennessee, about 20 minutes north of Chattanooga. Howard Farrow and his family have been breeding bengals since 2008, building a program that covers both short-coat and the plush cashmere coat variety.

Health testing is central to the cattery's approach. All breeding cats are screened for PK-D, HCM, Bengal PRA, FeLV, and FIV, and the program holds active memberships with both TICA and the CFA. Kittens are raised on a raw diet — the cattery grinds fresh chicken with organs, vitamins, and nutrients — a practice the program has followed for over a decade.

Socialization is taken seriously here. Kittens are raised alongside dogs and grandchildren of various ages, and are regularly exposed to household noise, guests, car rides, baths, nail trims, carriers, and harnesses before they leave for new homes.
