The Hudgins Division of J.D. Hudgins, Inc. has been raising registered American gray brahman cattle in Hungerford, Texas, about 50 miles southwest of Houston, since the operation's founding in 1908. Bob Hudgins is among the family members who operate this division, which carries on a multi-generational ranching tradition rooted in Wharton County's Gulf Coast grasslands.

The broader J.D. Hudgins ranch traces its roots to Joel Hudgins, who settled the area in 1839. The operation formally organized as a family partnership in 1908 and restructured into five family divisions in 1962, with the Hudgins Division being one of them. Brahman cattle for sale in Texas from this lineage draw on genetics tied to the ranch's foundational Manso bloodline, a gray brahman bull acquired in 1933 whose descendants are said to underpin the majority of brahman cattle registered with the American Brahman Breeders Association.

The ranch has been recognized by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association as one of the ten largest purebred cattle producers in the United States, and its Manso-line cattle have accumulated more than 1,500 show championships across national and international exhibitions. Sires from the program have been placed in breeding operations across dozens of states and more than 40 countries.
