Jauer Dependable Genetics
Jauer Dependable Genetics raises Angus cattle just outside of Hinton, Iowa, roughly ten miles north of Sioux City near the western edge of the state. Roger Jauer's program has centered on producing maternally efficient Angus cows for over 40 years, with a consistent focus on real-world performance rather than single-trait EPD selection.
The herd was built on a foundation of Rito, Shoshone Viking, and Shoshone Intent cattle, with DHD Traveler 6807 genetics introduced in 1991 after the team evaluated the Ohlde Cattle Co. program. Exodus, Sasquatch, and Focus bloodlines were later added, and today sons of OCC Anchor and OCC Emblazon anchor the cowherd. Extensive line breeding has been used to concentrate key traits and drive uniformity across generations.
Selection priorities include moderate frame size, added muscling, strong fleshing ability, calving ease, udder quality, and structural soundness. The program emphasizes cattle that thrive in grass and forage-based environments with minimal inputs, making Angus cattle for sale in Iowa from this program a practical fit for commercial producers focused on keeping production costs in check.
