Jardell Family Farms

Jardell Family Farms is home to a herd of Milking Devon cattle in Jennings, LA in southwestern Louisiana near Lake Charles. Owned by Scott Jardell, the farm has been raising Milking Devon cattle for several years and its herd is managed following American Milking Devon Association guidelines. Scott Jardell holds membership in the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association and participates in local breed showcases to support heritage livestock preservation.

Pasture-based grazing and rotational field practices support soil health and allow calves to grow in open, grassy pastures. All animals undergo regular health screenings, including quarterly veterinary checks and genetic testing to maintain herd vitality. Calves are socialized daily and live in spacious shelters that blend comfort with a natural environment.

The farm maintains a small-scale herd to ensure individual attention and promotes heritage breed traits valued by artisan dairy producers. Milk from the herd offers a rich flavor profile with balanced protein and butterfat content, well suited for cheese and yogurt production.
