James Gilpin

James Gilpin, Percheron horses, Parsons, KS, Labette County and the Ozarks near Joplin. He was drawn to the breed’s calm disposition early in his life. With more than fifteen years of hands-on breeding experience, he maintains a small herd of registered Percheron horses enrolled with the American Percheron Horse Association. Rigorous veterinary health screenings and genetic tests help ensure each foal begins life with strong prospects for soundness and temperament.

Foals spend their first months in open pastures and are handled daily to foster calm behavior and confidence under saddle. His small family-run farm sits on rolling prairie land that offers varied terrain for conditioning. The farm’s heritage-centered approach combines traditional farriery with modern nutritional practices to support bone development and overall well-being. Many of his Percherons have gone on to thrive in trail riding, draft competitions and local therapy programs, reflecting the steady, trainable nature he strives to cultivate.
