Holle Gelbvieh

Holle Gelbvieh raises purebred Gelbvieh cattle and Balancer seedstock in Oberlin, Kansas, in the northwest corner of the state roughly two hours from Colby. Kevin K. Holle and Orrin Holle operate the ranch, which is a member of the American Gelbvieh Association.

The program produces both purebred Gelbvieh and Balancer bulls, selling them as two-year-olds. Bulls cycle through dry-lot feeding, summer grass pasture, fall corn stalks, and a return to the dry lot in winter, typically reaching 1,600 to 1,700 pounds as two-year-olds with sound structure and good phenotype. The breeding program extends beyond sire development, with careful attention to dam selection as a foundation for consistently producing quality breeding stock.

All bulls are fertility tested and screened for PI BVD and trichomoniasis before delivery. On the genetics side, the ranch ranks among the top 20 owners and breeders of Gelbvieh stock in the United States and has had 30 head earn the 2018 Dam of Distinction Award. In 2024, Holle Gelbvieh also purchased the winner of the 27th Annual Breeder's Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity, reflecting an active approach to sourcing elite genetics.
