Halligan Hampshires & Oxfords

Halligan Hampshires & Oxfords, Hampshire sheep, Winchester, Kentucky in Clark County and the Bluegrass region near Lexington. It has been raising Hampshire sheep for over a decade, maintains thorough records tracing pedigrees back to foundation stock, and is a member of the American Hampshire Sheep Association.

All breeding stock undergoes regular health screenings for scrapie, footrot, and internal parasites through annual fecal exams. Manure is composted and returned to the fields to enrich soil naturally. Sheep graze on rotational pasture sown with grass-legume mixes and have access to a sheltered barn stocked with hay and free-choice mineral supplements.

Young lambs are handled daily on the family farm from birth, helping develop calm temperaments. Yearling ewes participate in low-stress handling sessions to ease future veterinary checks. Several lambs from this flock have earned ribbons at state fairs, reflecting the herd’s consistent quality and temperament.
