About Front Porch Puppies

Front Porch Puppies is a family-run program in Due West, South Carolina, where Paul Hershberger and his family raise Lhasa apso puppies on a small homestead alongside chickens, ducks, guineas, and pygmy goats. The setup gives puppies early exposure to a busy, active farm environment from the start.

Socialization is a clear priority for the program. The Hershbergers emphasize hands-on affection with their dogs, and their two sons are part of daily puppy care, giving each litter regular human contact before going to new homes. Paul's wife also spends time with the mothers throughout the raising process.

Lhasa apso breeders in South Carolina are not especially common, and the Due West location sits in the Upstate region, roughly an hour west of Greenville. The program's parent dogs carry AKC registration, and puppies are eligible for Continental Kennel Club (CKC) registration. The operation is inspected by AKC and described as being in compliance with its requirements. Standard poodles are also listed among the breeds the program works with.
