Countryside Kennels

Countryside Kennels in Madison, South Dakota has been raising English springer spaniels and a range of companion breeds since 1981, when the kennel got its start with a single springer kept as both a family dog and a hunting companion. Dorothy Sanborn operates the kennel, which sits in the James River Valley region of eastern South Dakota, roughly an hour northwest of Sioux Falls.

Over more than four decades, the program has grown to include cairn terriers, Lhasa apsos, Scottish terriers, and silky terriers alongside the English springer spaniel that started it all. Puppies leave the kennel microchipped and current on vaccinations, and each goes home with a starter kit of the premium high-protein food the adults and puppies are fed on-site. AKC limited registration is available on pet-placed dogs.
