Emdee Farms

Emdee Farms has been raising Braunvieh cattle in Shumway, Illinois since 1988, making it one of the longer-standing Braunvieh operations in central Illinois. Michael and Judy Brummer, who both grew up on Illinois farms and later built careers in medicine, founded the farm with the goal of returning to their agricultural roots.

The Brummers initially raised Holstein cattle before Michael discovered the Braunvieh breed and its attributes drew him to shift the herd's focus. The farm selects for traits including docility, heat and cold tolerance, calving ease, strong maternal instincts, and the ability to produce quality beef on a grass and hay diet. Anyone searching for Braunvieh cattle for sale in Illinois will find the herd has grown to around two dozen adult and juvenile animals, with calves available year-round for both breeding stock and beef.

Emdee Farms is a registered member of the American Braunvieh Association, giving buyers confidence that animals come from a program with documented breed credentials.
