Douglas Grunzke

Douglas Grunzke raises Percheron horses in Wells, MN, south-central Minnesota near Minneapolis. He has been breeding Percherons for over a decade and participates in the Percheron Horse Association to ensure every foal meets established standards.

His horses live on pasture with shelter access and are handled daily to build trust and gentle behavior around people. All breeding stock undergoes regular health screenings including cardiac and respiratory evaluations and joint scoring to support long-term soundness. Douglas places emphasis on versatility, and several of his horses have earned credits in draft pulling and youth education programs.

Visitors appreciate the calm atmosphere and thoughtful attention to each horse’s development. His family-owned farm occupies 150 acres of rolling fields that offer room for young horses to mature at their own pace. Feed is sourced locally and tailored to the nutritional needs of draft breeds.
