Double M Heritage Shorthorns

Double M Heritage Shorthorns, dual purpose/family cows, Etna Green, IN, in Kosciusko County and Warsaw, is a heritage farm. It follows American Shorthorn Society guidelines for registration and maintains routine health screening for cows and calves.

Animals graze on rotational pasture with daily handling to promote calm temperaments and they access a sheltered barn stall each evening. Owner John Mullet preserves genetic diversity by using heritage/native semen lines alongside traditional cow/calf breeding methods. Herd records track lineage back several generations and focus on maternal traits, milk production and gentle dispositions.

Balanced nutrition is provided through a mix of pasture grasses and supplemental hay during winter, ensuring consistent growth and fertility. Calves undergo early socialization in a calf yard that encourages interaction and acclimates them to handling from a young age.
