Donna Cochran

Donna Cochran, Percheron breeder in Seaford, Delaware, raises draft horses in Sussex County and the Delmarva Peninsula near Salisbury.

She has bred Percheron horses for over a decade and is a member of the American Percheron Horse Association and the Delaware Horse Breeders Association. Each mare and stallion receives regular veterinary screenings, and broodmares and stallions undergo annual dental exams and joint evaluations before joining the breeding program.

Her approach to husbandry revolves around daily turnouts on fresh pasture and individualized attention in a climate-controlled barn. Foals are introduced to halters and basic grooming from a young age, helping them adapt to farm life and early handling.

A recent buyer noted the gentle temperament and solid build of a yearling colt, highlighting the consistent quality in every foal. The farm, established by her family in the 1980s, also welcomes local school visits to share knowledge of draft horse care.
