Daniel E. Wengerd

Daniel E. Wengerd breeds Percherons in Reynoldsville, PA, in Jefferson County and the Allegheny National Forest near Pittsburgh. He has been raising draft horses for more than twenty years and holds active membership in the Percheron Horse Association of America, with all breeding stock tested for common genetic and soundness issues. Quarterly health checks cover vaccinations, dental care and coordinated hoof trimming to keep each horse in balanced condition.

His horses live on open pastures with access to run-in shelters, and foals are introduced to handlers from their first week to build calm temperaments. Turnout rotates between grass paddocks and sand paddocks to support strong hooves and muscle development. Over two dozen of his descendants have earned registry performance awards for driving and farm work, reflecting a tradition that began on his family farm in western Pennsylvania.
