Car-Mir-Jac Kennel

Car-Mir-Jac Kennel, run by Cheryl Nims out of Lamar, Missouri, has been raising cairn terriers for over 40 years. Lamar sits in the southwest corner of the state, roughly an hour south of Joplin, and the kennel's country setting is something Nims credits to the dogs' wellbeing.

Cheryl's affinity for the breed stretches back to childhood, and she began raising cairn terriers after welcoming her first one into her own family. Over the decades the program has grown alongside multiple generations of her family, with the dogs now a fixture for her grandchildren as well. Cairn terrier puppies from this kennel have found homes across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

All puppies are AKC registered, microchipped, and vet-checked, and parent dogs receive annual veterinary examinations along with DNA health testing. Puppies leave with a health guarantee and are started on vaccinations and wormings before going home. Yorkshire terriers are also part of the program, with the same health and care standards applied to that breed.
