Coltsfoot

Coltsfoot is a Percheron horse breeder in Barton, Vermont in the Northeast Kingdom near Burlington. With more than a decade of experience, it is affiliated with recognized draft horse associations and follows established health-testing protocols for its stock.

Owners R. Kim Berten and Susan Cooley oversee every aspect of the program, from foaling schedules to hoof-trimming routines. Its horses are raised in pasture-based settings amid sheltering timberlands, with daily handling to promote calm temperaments and ease of training. Breeding selections focus on sound conformation, strong structure and steady dispositions suited for traditional farm work and modern driving settings. Foals receive early exposure to draft harnesses and light groundwork alongside adult mares.
