Christy Carpenter

Christy Carpenter, Percheron horses, Harrison, ME, serves the western Maine region near Portland. Building on a family legacy of Percheron breeding, she established her program on a foundation of breed association guidelines, routine health evaluations and balanced nutrition protocols to promote strong development. With rolling pastures and sturdy post-and-beam barns, her facility supports natural movement and year-round turnout. Foals are socialized from birth through daily handling and interaction with multiple handlers to foster trust and calm temperaments.

Adults graze alongside mares and young stock in paddocks divided by stone walls, helping maintain fitness and natural pecking order. Christy and her team attend Percheron Horse Association seminars and local fairs, staying connected to the draft community and exchanging best practices. These Percheron horses are valued for their gentle strength, steady work ethic and adaptability to both farm chores and pleasure riding. Her background in farrier work complements the program, ensuring each horse receives attentive hoof care and balanced farriery.
