C.H. Morris & Sons, LLC. has been raising registered polled Gelbvieh cattle in Appomattox, Virginia since 1988, when the operation registered its first Gelbvieh calf and established its first purebred herd. The farm itself has far deeper roots — founded in 1952 as a family partnership in Buckingham County, it originally grew tobacco, corn, and wheat and ran a Grade B dairy before transitioning to beef cattle in 1965.

Roger L. Morris, who was born and raised on the farm, leads the operation alongside his wife Carolyn, their daughter Rebecca Moss, and her husband C.W. Moss, who joined the farm in 1993. The LLC was formally structured in 2015. Roger was recognized as the Virginia Cattlemen's Association 2020 Cattleman of the Year, a reflection of his long tenure in the industry.

The cow herd currently numbers around 100 fall-calving cows, with 30 to 35 females retained each cycle and approximately 15 returning to the herd. Roughly 25 registered bulls are sold annually, and animals that do not meet the operation's selective criteria move through the Buckingham Cattlemen's Association sales.
