Catlin Family Farm

Catlin Family Farm, Katahdin sheep, Kasilof, Alaska, is on the Kenai Peninsula near Soldotna. Brionna Catlin has been breeding Katahdin sheep for over a decade, focusing on functional traits and sustainable, small-scale pasture management.

The operation follows Katahdin Hair Sheep registry guidelines and conducts annual fecal egg counts and hoof trimming for all breeding stock. All ewes are monitored with regular health checks and annual parasite screenings, and lambs are reared in small family groups to encourage social development. Birthing pens are bedded with straw and inspected daily so lambs and dams share a clean, low-stress space.

The farm’s mixed pastures blend native grasses and legumes, supporting healthy weight gains without high-input supplements. Several lambs have placed in local fairs, reflecting selection for structural soundness. Grazing paddocks rotate sheep through fresh pasture to aid forage regrowth and reduce parasite pressure.
