Catherwood Livestock

Catherwood Livestock, operated by Les Hamm, raises Galloway, Guernsey, and Speckle Park cattle on a certified organic family farm near Perdue, Saskatchewan, about 35 minutes west of Saskatoon.

The farm has roots going back to 1976, with the current generation carrying forward a five-generation tradition of grain growing and livestock raising. Fields have been farmed without synthetic chemicals since 1997, and the operation earned certified organic status in 2000. All animals are raised on certified organic hay and pastures produced entirely on the farm, with a focus on keeping livestock as close to their natural habitat as practical.

Galloway cattle for sale in Saskatchewan and the surrounding region come from a program built around antibiotic-free, hormone-free, grass-fed production. Guernsey and Speckle Park cattle round out the herd, reflecting a diverse approach to breeding cattle suited to the organic, pasture-based system the farm has maintained for decades.
