Caney Fork Pygoras

Caney Fork Pygoras raises show-quality pygora goats in Guysville, Ohio, a rural community in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio roughly an hour from Athens. Robin and Wade Oliver run the farm with a program built around both the show ring and the fiber arts, producing pygora goats for sale in Ohio whose fleece, conformation, and temperament are all considered in breeding decisions.

The herd of about 20 goats carries lineage sourced from breeders across the country, and the farm takes careful note of fiber type when pairing animals, working primarily with Type B fleece but maintaining animals that represent all three pygora fiber classifications. Health is a documented priority: the herd is tested and free of Caseous Lymphadenitis (CL), Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE), and Johne's disease, and the farm holds a USDA premise ID in support of scrapies eradication efforts. Kids are disbudded at four to six days old at a local veterinary office, with a local block used to minimize discomfort.

The farm actively participates in sanctioned Pygora Breeders Association shows and has produced and housed multiple champions. Breeding buck The Oaks Grover earned a Permanent Grand Champion title in 2024, one of very few active breeding animals in the country to hold that distinction. Does on the property have collected Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion fleece titles at events including the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair and the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival. The farm also produces its own yarn and roving, processed by a small American mill, extending the fiber from the herd directly into finished goods for spinners and crafters.
