Barbara L. Kelsey

Barbara L. Kelsey and Darlington Kelsey breed Percheron horses in Warriors Mark, PA, in the Allegheny Mountains near State College. They have been breeding for over a decade and maintain membership in the Percheron Horse Association of Pennsylvania, with regular health screening and blood-typing for all foals and parent stock.

Their mares and stallions graze on rotational paddocks with daily handling to encourage calm temperaments and early socialization. Each foal receives veterinary checkups at birth and weaning, and parent stock are screened for genetic conditions common to draft breeds. Foals are raised on a family-run farmstead alongside children and other animals to develop gentle dispositions.

Several of their horses have placed at regional fairs and perform in draft demonstrations around central Pennsylvania. They focus on conformation and temperament to produce versatile horses suited to farm work and shows.
